Started it off!

I started walking this morning! I went and got myself the brightest neon green running shoes I could find, got my self some insoles, and went walking.  I was up at like 4:30 this morning, so I got ready and left.  It was pretty nice!  It wasn't far, just 0.6 miles according to mapmyrun, but I felt good.  I am trying to achieve that every morning.  Wish me luck!

Was on Facebook this morning and notice my sister in law had mention a 30 day challenge for planks thought it was about time I started on my core muscle again and what better way to do it then with planks so I went on line found this site.

http://tribesports.com/challenges/30-day-plank-challenge-from-20-sec-to-5-mins

I am thinking girls that after my doctor gives me the ok (which i hope is this Friday)to go back to normal activities that we do this together. I do know that their are a ton of other challenges out their like pushups and pull ups so go search and if you find something you think would be great for the rest of us then we can add it.

Enough is enough

My back hurt so much when I woke up this morning I had to medicate myself just so I could drive to work. I know it is from my weight. So today I decided to start counting calories and exercising. I will keep you updated on my progress.

Something New

So I saw this list of exercises online last night and I thought it would be a great way to start exercising it uses no equipment and you can do anywhere you have enough room to lay down at. So feeling super good about this I got up this morning got ready grabbed some water and went out with Max. I started out pretty good but by the time I got to the first set of squats my legs were on fire but I tried to push through really trying to drop my butt like you are suppose now I don't do a lot of squats so I felt kind of silly doing this I then look over at max mid squat and he has his head tilted to the side looking at my like wtf are you doing which just made me laugh and made me feel more silly. But with a few breaks I was able to finish even though by the end my jumping jacks where nothing more then me jumping up and down holding my chest. I think I will try to do this work out 2 to 3 times a week but no more then that cause even though my legs aren't to bad right now I know that tomorrow its going to hurt to get out of bed.

Monday, September 16, 2013

Sitting here in bed got my jazz music going and Nat King Cole came on singing Oh What A Wonderful Day and I thought that will be my very first song on my walking and running music list just listening to that made me think of being outside seeing the blue sky the birds and trees it was great, I mean here I am in my bedroom laid up not able to walk let alone run and that song came on and lifted my spirts and gave me some hope, silly right.

I'm not sure if this is working.....

  So, I have decided to replace a few things in my diet so that I have the same experience as eating the things I used to, but not so much the calories.  For example, I replaced potato chips with sliced carrot chips, It's been helping at lunch a lot.  I have not, however, found a replacement for ice cream yet.  Frozen yogurt is ok, I think I found a replacement with lassi, but I need to figure out how to make it first and if it has as high of a sugar content.  I'm not doing great on the exercise front.  Yesterday I hurt my ankle, I'm not sure how, I was just.......standing.  Getting some water, aaaannnnddddd, ankle hurts.  Still hurts today, so I'm being careful with it.  I have also been getting a lot of exercise at work.  The standing and walking is doing a lot to make me realize how out of shape I am and what I need to start doing in the way of exercising.  Oh man, I'm out of shape.  I need new clothes for work, but I'm really only buying things that will either last me for a few sizes, or I can alter later.  I know this is disorganized, and not my usual format, I just wanted to get something up before I started my work week.  It's going to be a busy one!

Lunch

Fruit salad and yogurt for lunch with an apple for snack

Sunday, September 1, 2013

Last weekend we BBQ up chicken Breast and Pork Chops then cut in to thin strips and that was pretty easy to throw on a salad or grap a sand bag and nibble so we are going to BBQ up some more today for the week.

Thursday, August 29, 2013

Well another 2 weeks in the cast but the next 2 weeks I will be totally off work no working from home. So with the next 3 days the hubby will be home I am going to get his help with some exercises. Oh had a soda today :(
Well have not done all that bad I have a couple sodas but have really cut down notice I mostly go for a soda when I am stressed. I am day 3 of only 1 sugar in my coffee in the morning and I have only had 1 cup each day. Only processed food has been the yogurt in the morning and I hope that will change soon. Once doctor gets me out of this cast I will be able to move around in kitchen. I have been drinking more water and I am happy about that. Still not doing my dumb bell work out and that is a bad thing need to get my butt in gear.

I have a goal...

 My goal is to lose one hundred pounds in a year.  It's not impossible, just difficult to get started.  I need to lose roughly eight to nine pounds a month.  So my plan is simple, no more eating out.  Keep it to a bare minimum and if I do go out (like on date night), I'm going to keep it healthy and proportionate.

  I WILL park the farthest away from an entrance while out so I can walk the distance to get my everyday exercise in.

 I WILL work out everyday.  We have a weight bench in the garage gathering dust, that needs to change.

 I WILL take the dogs out everyday on a walk, either before or after I work.

 I WILL be more active and hike more with Aaron this fall/winter.

 I WILL climb stairs at every opportunity.

 I WILL become better, harder, better, faster, stronger, all while rocking out to Daft Punk.

 These are my rules to live by for the next year.  Guys, don't let me rationalize to myself that I'll "start tomorrow.  Let's keep this going!

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

Well been pretty depressed lately so talked with my oldest via AIM and she cheered me up, so I have to follow thru with my promise.

Long Term Goal lose 65 pounds by June of 2014
Short Term Goal lose 10 pounds by Sep 30 2013

Plan;

Each day work on dumb bells workout

No process foods, no soda, 1 spoon of sugar in coffee.

Since exercise right now is pretty hard with the cast on my foot and a neck brace I will use the 5# dumb bells and work on arms and upper body as much as I can once doctor releases me to normal (walking) I will shoot for 10,000 steps a day once I am 2.5 miles within a 30 minute walk I will start back to running. Somewhere in that I want to get back to yoga and Pilate classes. If weight and inches are not dropping off then I will increase weight work out and less cardio but my walking is my stress releif its how I control my blood pressure. More walking I do the better chances I have to keep my blood pressure in a normal range.

so girls hope you push Mom every day!

Love you both

Well so far doing pretty good with food had a fantastic chicken salad for lunch and a great crab salad for dinner and have snacked on grapes didn't have breakfast had a horrible migraine and was not thinking food at the time. Thursday, August 22, 2013

Well it's almost the end of the week we have had some good news one of our daughters  got her job she has been trying for, so now we just need that call for the other daughter telling her she got the job.
So I am off work till my doctor can fix me so I can walk on 2 feet, crutches and me don't get along. So I am laying down heating pads on all different parts of me (getting old quickly). I think at least 50% of my problem is I am allowing my problems (fibromyalgia and my foot) to control me instead of me controlling my body so with that said I have pulled out the exercise bands and we went shopping  and did not buy any processed foods just fruits and veggies. So I can't weigh myself so going to just go on how I am feeling. So I hope to see other write in our blog it will give me something to read. So going to really try hard to work at this and see what I can do.

Tuesday, August 20, 2013

Well it's been awhile and that's bad, we all agreed to do this and I have just put it out of mind. I have been racking my brain on what to do with my diet. I think I am going to eat as light as I can this week and Saturday go grocery shopping come home and right then and there fix the meals up for the week. Hubby will be their to help me so think between the 2 of us we will get it done. So any of you have quick easy meal ideas send them my way just remember no Gluten and no processed foods. Process foods are bad for my fybromyalgia and unfortunately with everything else going with me that has reared its ugly head and I am paying for it. So either post the meals or send to my email. Love you guys.

Here iz Zee Plan.....

  Yesterday, Aaron made lasagna.  It was delicious, he used spicy sausage and a ton of ricotta cheese.  After I ate it I felt horrible.  Not because anything was wrong with the lasagna, but because something was wrong with me.  I am really trying hard to change the way I eat since coming home from vacation.  While we were on the road I drank a bunch of sodas and ate a bunch of chips.  We all know that has to stop.  Chips are to me like kryptonite is to Superman, or PTSD is to Batman, or horrible leather jackets with giant shoulder pads in them is to Wonder Woman. (that was a critique of the new Wonder Woman comics for those following along)
  Anyways, I have made a plan.  So, in the morning it's always hard for me to force myself to eat breakfast, I'm just not hungry but I need to have something.  So breakfast drink in the morning, then I pack a small uncrustable for a snack a few hours later.  Then for lunch, a salad of some sort with maybe some cheese and a egg in it for protein.  Maybe pack some nuts for an afternoon snack.  This is my plan so when I get home for dinner I don't pig out because I'm starving or because I think I didn't have enough food.
  My goal is to lose sixteen pounds by the end of September.  I should be able to do it with the diet change and exercise.  I'm starting light and working my way up.  I have also decided to start lifting weights again. I'm so weak a baby could take me in an arm wrestling contest!  Seriously, I tried to unload the car with groceries the other day and I thought I was going to pass out!  The heaviest thing I carried was laundry detergent! This has to stop! The exclamation marks I mean, not the exercise! I just love using exclamation marks! What do you guys think?

Challenge Fail

Well I failed on the challenge to take picture of what I eat but it really was not that healthy. It was mainly fried foods and cookies. So I will try tomorrow for at least one health meal.

Low Glycemic Paying off ?

Well checked weight and I am sitting at 225.7 so either I will YoYo back and forth with those few pounds or watching my Glycemic index for foods is paying off.

Last night I forgot to take a picture of my meal and upload it but BBQ Ribs and a big fresh salad with home made basil salad dressing was just to yummy to wait to eat :)

So it's housework today and lots of it hope I can do at least 5000 on my Fitbit, and the coffe with no sugar is going to be ruff really ruff. :(

Breakfast is a peanut butter banana oatmeal cookie thing with a few mini chocolate chips. Lunch is turkey wraps with carrots and grapes.

Trying for low Glycemic

Well it's Friday and I am so happy it's been a long week. Going with simple meals today shooting for the low glycemic index

Eggs= 0 breakfast
Tuna =10 Lunch (onion,celery)
Ribs=0 dinner
Salad=10 dinner

Ok here is where I screw up my entire low glycemic index my morning coffee I have to learn to drink it black and that is going to take a bit of doing

2- cups of coffee 0 with sugar = 278 OUCH ok this weekend is to get off the sugar I put in my coffee, wish me luck

Oh and I won't forget to post picture of health meals today, great idea Kate.

Challenge

OK ladies I have an idea for a challenge since Jaynine can not exercise yet this one will be food based. Since the three of us all have smart phones I think we should post a picture of two healthy meals a day (1 post with 2 pics). And they need to be legitimately health not something you have to reason like a loaded burrito sure it has vegetables and meat but what about all that cheese, french fries and grease.  The reason only 2 meals is sometimes you get busy and you 3rd meal is more snacks (hopefully healthy) then a real  meal. I think this will be a good way to keep each other honest on what we are eating and maybe trading some healthy recipes. What do you guys think?

Underpants Gnomes

Well I got to tell you I feel old and silly right now and let me explain. Last night I sat and did a bunch of research in fact I have done alot of that over the past couple years reading up on fitness and eating right but while researching last night I came across a web site called Nerd Fitness now why I would click on a site like this might be cause of have a bunch of nerds in my family but I came across one of their postings called underpants gnomes. I look at my husband (a very sexy nerd if I do say so my self) and I ask what is an underpants gnomes? The look on his face was priceless, so I do what everyone does, I goggled it. I have to tell you that after reading the Posting on what underpants gnomes are the light got a lot brighter.

http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2012/04/05/underpants-gnomes/

So I guess I am going to dominate phase 2 and see if I can put my research in to action.

So many diets to pick from

Well last night did some Internet searching on diets and even though I have a ton of diet books, Weight Watcher, Flat Belly, Runners, and many others I think I am going to watch the carbs and do no processed food for a couple weeks and see what happens. I cannot exercise at this point but will watch what I eat and drink and see what happens.  I was just on the scale and I am at 228.9 so wish me luck :) my goal is 185 and would love to be their by the summer of 2014 and a size 12 wouldn't be bad either tee hee.

Hope to see you girls post soon.

Battle of the Bulge: Candy Edition

I was watching TV last night with some friends, laughing, having a good time, when one of my friends suddenly interjected with a "great idea".  "If I had a restaurant", she says, "I would give people the option to order licorice straws with their drinks." Now for people who don't know what a licorice straw is, it's when you have a piece of licorice, twisted into a tube, and you bite off both ends, effectively making it a straw.  After she said that we went back to watching TV but after that, all I could think of was eating a giant tub of red vines.  Now, I'm the type of person that can't really stop at just one thing.  I can't just have one potato chip, because I just have this compulsion to eat them all.  So after the mention of licorice was made, I couldn't stop thinking about it.  It drove me crazy all night.  I was trying to find something sweet in the house to eat, but the only thing we had that was sweet was jam.  It made me crazy.  And this is the kind of thing I realized about myself when I'm trying to lose weight or get in shape.  I need to start making it a compulsion like the candy obsession, or the potato chip eating.  It needs to be something I regularly do, like get up in the morning , go walking, get ready for work.  Unfortunately at this moment I'm packing for a trip to the Midwest so that might be difficult.  There is going to be a lot of food, but on the upside, there's also going to be a lot of walking.  So maybe it won't be so bad.  Wish me luck I guess!
